Petaluma Dog Training Class Descriptions

Puppy Socialization
Socialization is a very important part of your puppy’s development. Here puppies are able to interact in a safe environment within their age group.  This builds confidence and develops good greeting skills in the puppy so that it will grow up learning to play well with others.  We will also teach a few “starter commands” to introduce them to the concept of training.

$10.00
per drop-in. On-going drop-in class.
Time:

 Requirements:
Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m.
Puppies must have had at least 2 sets of shots, and please bring medical records of those.
Age limit will be 12 to 18 weeks.

Beginning Obedience Classes
All the basic commands will be covered (sit, down, stay, come, heel) plus good manners (not jumping on people, no mouthing and biting, waiting in doorways). There will also be discussions about any behaviors at home that you might need help with such as chewing, digging, housebreaking, car manners, vet clinic manners, crate training. We will keep these classes in small groups for quality, individual attention.

About Our Trainer

Ina Scrocco comes to us with over 30 years experience in training, consulting, and participating in various dog sports with her own dogs.  She has operated her own boarding and training kennel for 20 years and has helped many competition students prepare for and obtain their titles at AKC and UKC obedience trials.  She has been a 4-H  Obedience Trial Judge in Sonoma County, an official Puppy Tester for the San Francisco SPCA Hearing Dog Program, trained dogs for the disabled, participated in the development and filming of dog training videos, done many behavior consultations at dog sanctuaries and shelters, and has done lectures and demonstrations for classrooms at various schools.
An accomplished competitor in her own right, Ina has won many First Place and High-in-Trial awards with her own dogs at UKC and AKC Obedience Trials.  She has won several Dog World Awards for her accomplishments at obedience trials, and has shown all of her dogs at breed shows.  She has been involved in sheepherding events with her own dogs over the past ten years, obtaining multiple herding titles and placements at AKC and AHBA Herding Events.
Believing that a really good dog trainer never stops learning, Ina has widened her experience and continued her own education in the field by attending workshops, clinics and seminars, studying with some of the top trainers in the country.
“Dog training is like any other field in that it is always evolving, with new innovations coming in all the time.  I don’t ever want to become ‘stagnant’, and I try to stay current and open to new ideas and methods of training. In the end what I want most to do is help everyone get the most from their relationship with their pet.”
